お客様のもとで使われていたマネークリップが、2つ、修理で工房に戻ってきました。
1つはクリップ金具の入れ替え。
もう1つはホックの入れ替えです。
■ クリップ金具の入れ替え
マネークリップの要になる金具です。
お札を挟むために毎日開閉する部分なので、長く使ううちに少しずつ緩んだり、傷んだりします。
新しい金具に入れ替えて、挟む力を取り戻しました。
■ ホックの入れ替え
コインケースを留めるホックも、開け閉めのたびに負担がかかる部分です。
留まりが甘くなってきたら、ホック自体を新しいものに交換できます。
■ 革は、まだまだ元気です
金具が傷んでも、革はまだまだ使える状態でした。
今回の2つも、内側の革には使い込まれた味が出ていて、まだ何年も使えます。
金具だけを替えれば、財布そのものは買い替えなくて大丈夫です。
■ 長く使ってもらえるのが、一番嬉しいです
作ったものが、お客様の日常で長く使われて、修理でまた戻ってくる。
それが一番嬉しいです。

TWO MONEY CLIPS, BACK FOR REPAIRS

Two money clips that have been in daily use came back to our workshop for repairs.
One needed a new clip fitting.
The other needed a new snap hook.
■ New clip fitting
The clip is the heart of a money clip wallet.
It opens and closes every day to hold your bills, so over the years it can slowly loosen or wear out.
We replaced it with a fresh fitting, and its grip is back.
■ New snap hook
The snap on the coin case also takes stress every time it opens and closes.
When it stops fastening properly, the snap itself can be replaced with a new one.
■ The leather still has years of life
Even when the hardware wears out, the leather is usually still going strong.
Both of these wallets have interiors that show a beautiful patina from daily use — and plenty of years left in them.
Replace just the hardware, and there is no need to replace the wallet.
■ Nothing makes us happier
A wallet we made, used every day for years, and sent back to us for repair —
nothing makes us happier.
